#1: (4/2-4/8) |
Experimentation |
We set up a tripod and a flash and tried to coordinate the shutter of the camera with the flash of the other. I used a filter and posterized it to make the poster effect. I learned that we need to have a synchronized flash because light moves very quickly. In the future I'll likely avoid being reliant on external flash, as the original image was overexposed on the extremely rare occasion when we managed to make it work, and try to utilize the poster-style more effectively and widely in the future. |
#2: (4/8-4/12) |
Experimentation/ Balancing Elements |
We had the scene on the gradient background, with some natural light flooding in from the window. We used a reflector to make a gold tone as well.I took the image and flipped it to make it look like the scene was hung on a wall in the corner of a room with a mirroring scene next to it. I learned from this that natural light can be frustrating but when you get just the right angle it can really improve the quality of a picture. Combine it with a reflector and everything comes together nicely. I'll probably be utilizing a reflector a lot more often in the future. |
#3: (4/15-4/26) |
Depth |
I placed a mirror down under a window, put the green leaves next to the mirror so that it could be seen on both sides, and put the flower next to the lens so that you can only see it once. The composition makes it so that the exclusion of the flower except in the reflection gives it an effect of distance and a feeling of longing. I learned that I need to start using reflections and mirrors more often in my photography. I enjoyed using the reflection artistically. This means I'll likely use more reflections and such as I grow more as a photographer. |
#4: (4/29-5/3) |
Experimentation |
We were just experimenting with the macro lenses. I learned that I need to put more preparation time in for macro stuff. In the future, I'll probably try to think these photos. |
#5: (5/6-5/10) |
Depth |
I went with another image representing depth because I continued doing some experimenting with mirrors. I tried using an actual light this time to try to control the scene a little more, and I learned that this strategy allows for substantially more capability for dramatic lighting. The combination of mirrors and lights in the future will definitely help me achieve higher quality work. |
